Behringer TMS - Transport Management System
Heavy-duty roller conveyor and cross conveyor system from Behringer for the steel trade.
This modern and almost as good as new transport system consists of stable roller conveyors, cross transfer panels with sliding beams, control panels in various segments and safety fencing. The system offers the possibility of transporting long material between individual storage areas and processing stations, in this case horizontal bandsaw systems. It is possible to transport several materials at the same time and in different directions. So-called "jobs" are used for this purpose, which define the start position and destination position of a material transport. If several jobs are available at the same time, they are processed according to the first in and first out principle.
The Behringer system components consist of
Insertion and removal zones, safety areas, protection areas of the overall system, assignment of machine components to the safety protection areas, safety matrix and the arrangement of the control panels as well as additional emergency stop and acknowledgement devices.
The driven heavy-duty roller conveyor has a total length of 150 m, a roller width of 1,200 mm and a roller conveyor height of 750 mm and is divided into several areas for the cross feed of long materials.
In previous applications, various bandsaw systems and storage locations were linked together and steel pipes with diameters of min. 50 mm to max. 640 mm and flat material of min. 40 x 40 mm to max. 500 mm x 300 mm of different dimensions were conveyed to the individual positions. Push-off beams were used in various areas to move round material, flat material, coils and layers to the material storage areas or for transfer to the sawing system.
This sturdy Behringer transport system consists of driven roller conveyors with cross-pusher sections for transporting steel pipes and solid material, including extensive light grids/light barriers and fence protection. The extensive transport system is designed for professional use in steel processing and the steel trade. The condition of the system is almost as good as new and can therefore be used again immediately at a new location.
Behringer connecting roller conveyor
The structure of the Behringer roller conveyor with the cross transfer fields consists of a stable sectional steel construction. The solid material rollers are supported by heavy roller bearings in plummer block housings.
All idlers are electrically driven by chains. The chain is driven by a reversing three-phase geared motor.

Loading roller conveyors with electric drive. The lateral guidance of the material on the roller conveyor is achieved via enlarged diameters at the end of the idler roller. In addition, the sufficiently dimensioned roll-off protection on both sides of the roller conveyor (with the exception of retrieval stations) prevents the pipes from rolling away.
The roller conveyors are controlled manually and automatically in sequences via the freely positioned control panels.

Material supports with plastic strips
Support bars made of sturdy and heavy H-profile steel are arranged next to the roller conveyor and are supported on the floor. 150 mm high supports are fitted at the end of the supports to prevent bars from rolling off. In addition, an ascending ramp is provided at the end of the supports to create a braking effect. The material supports are covered with wear-resistant plastic rails to reduce noise.

When placing the tubes, the shelf should be used to avoid placing them directly on the roller conveyor. The parts must then be manually rolled or pushed onto the roller conveyor. Pipes that cannot be moved by hand, especially rectangular pipes, must nevertheless be placed directly on the roller conveyor.
Control panels on the transport system
Control panels are located at the unloading stations for manual and automated control. They contain the function buttons for the relevant part of the roller conveyor and for pushing off, as well as the preselection for the destination and the request and start button for the automatic process. A separate button is provided on the control panel for each destination. A display shows errors in plain text. Key switches are used to safeguard various areas.
PLC control for the automatic sequence
PLC control for the transport roller conveyor with loading and unloading stations. To load the roller conveyor, the crane operator and the machine operator give the go-ahead, which is displayed on the control panel and with a signal column. A lamp lights up at the destination reached and signals an incoming part. Incoming profiles and pipes are automatically pushed off the roller conveyor, provided that the deposit point there is free and the safety zone is not interrupted.
Non-overlapping automatic processes can take place in parallel. If a partial area is blocked, the other areas can still be used in the automatic sequence.
Switching thresholds are arranged at certain intervals along the entire roller conveyor so that the transportation of the pipes can be monitored and tracked. If irregularities are detected, an interruption is triggered with an error message.
