The Kaltenbach company was founded by Julius Kaltenbach in Lörrach in 1887. In 1953, with Dieter Kaltenbach in the 3rd generation, the development of circular saws was advanced and expanded. Kaltenbach bandsaws
The KBS bandsaw machines are all equipped with a miter cutting device and are therefore especially designed for profile steel processing. The abbreviation DG listed in the product designation stands for double miter device and NA for automatic feeder. The Kaltenbach Proficut software package is used for easy programming of the band saws.

KALTENBACH HDM cold circular saw
The HDM circular saw series with the large saw blade diameters has been around for many years and in a large number of different models. KALTENBACH profile drilling machines
Kaltenbach profile drilling machines are all CNC controlled and can be combined with a suitable sawing system. Usually, a band saw is used for a saw-drill combination. However, Kaltenbach is the only manufacturer known to us who also still builds the large cold circular saw and combines it with a drilling machine. For the respective application numerous equipment variants are available from the low cost machine up to the fully automatic profile drilling line. The plants are supplemented with an extensive material transport system consisting of roller conveyors and cross conveyor systems.

Kaltenbach KD 615
The KD 615 profile drilling machine is designed for drilling steel profiles and flat steel from a minimum of 50 x 50 x 5 mm to a maximum of 600 x 400 mm. For angle steel the machining sizes are min. 50 x 50 x 5 mm max. 250 x 250 x 28 mm, for U-sections min. 50 x 25 mm max. 400 x 110 mm and for H-sections min. 80 x 46 mm max. 600 x 400 mm. The drilling rig has 2 horizontal drilling units and one vertical drilling unit, each with 7.5 kW drive power. HSS cooling channel drills with a drilling diameter of 10 to 40 mm are used. KALTENBACH sheet metal processing centers
The Kaltenbach sheet metal processing center is a modern and economical equipment for automatic processing of sheet metal and flat steel. Due to its versatility, the sheet metal processing center finds application in steel construction, steel trade, metal construction and plant engineering. The combination of several types of machining such as drilling, tapping, countersinking, center punching, milling, mill marking, oxy-fuel cutting and plasma cutting are the strength of the sheet metal working center. Depending on the year of manufacture, all or some of the above functions are part of the equipment.
The WBZ and KF series of sheet metal processing centers have been proven and reliable production machines for more than 30 years of hard use in the flat steel processing environment. These solid machines have been continuously developed during their development phase and, depending on the year of manufacture, are equipped with a wide range of special features. For example, the new sheet metal working centers are equipped with one or two machining units for oxyfuel cutting and plasma cutting as well as one or two powerful drilling units with tool changer. The high drive power combined with high spindle speeds enables the use of carbide tools for drilling, milling and marking.

KALTENBACH KC notching robot, profile processing robot
The Kaltenbach KC notching robot is suitable for fast notching of steel beams, H profiles, U profiles, angle profiles and square tubes. Notching with a CNC-controlled automatic flame-cutting system has been a beneficial revolution for series production by reducing the amount of notching previously done manually with a hand cutting torch.
The Kaltenbach KC notching robot system consists of a stable machine gantry with a Kuka robot flanged to the crossbeam. The proven Kuka robot ensures that all notching positions can be reached with its motion axes.
Eight motion axes ensure the precise notching position of the sectional beams, angle steel or square tubes. Here, six movement axes are covered by the compactly built Kuka robot. The axis mounted on the crossbeam ensures the positioning of the robot in the transverse axis. The movement of the workpieces in the X-axis (longitudinal axis) is carried out by a solid pushing measuring carriage, which is guided along a rack on the roller conveyor on the infeed side. This, in conjunction with the driven roller conveyor, allows even heavy sectional beams to be moved and economically notched. A hydraulic clamping system ensures that the workpieces are held in place during the thermal cutting process. Depending on the machine type, the KC robot is optionally equipped with an oxyfuel flame cutting unit and/or a plasma cutting unit. Notching with a plasma cutting unit from Hypertherm or Kjellberg is faster than oxyfuel cutting, but requires perfect extraction of the resulting combustion gases and fine dusts.
Good operator skills are needed to program the Kaltenbach KC robot. The CAD data provided by the customer or the design department is transferred in DSTV format to the plant's CUT Manager via the DSTV interface. This can be done with an online connection or via a data carrier. This results in a 3D representation of the components. A "Moses" software subsequently generates the necessary robot data from the DSTV data. The "Moses" software from AUTOCAM Informationstechnik GmbH is an automatic CAD and CAM link to the Kaltenbach KC robot controller for notching in the plasma and oxyfuel cutting process. Then, for new workpieces, the first step is collision checking and verification of the robot axis positioning. This is followed by thermal notching and subsequent removal of the finished components with the roller conveyor on the outfeed side.
