The machines are designed for fast and precise drilling, milling, thread cutting, countersinking, and marking, and are particularly well-suited for processing steel sections in the steel construction and steel trading industries. Multiple CNC-controlled machining axes, automatic tool changers, and a robust machine design enable flexible and cost-effective machining of a wide variety of steel sections. The KALTENBACH KDP drilling and milling systems can be used as stand-alone machines or expanded into automated processing lines in combination with KALTENBACH sawing systems, length measurement systems, and material transport systems.

Kaltenbach KDP 736

The Kaltenbach KDP 736 is a high-performance drilling machine with additional 500 mm movable drilling axes (this significantly reduces processing times), for steel profiles from min. 50 x 5 mm to max. 750 x 600 mm, with 2 horizontal drilling units and one vertical drilling unit and 3 automatic tool changers with 12 tool holders each, suitable for drilling, contour marking, center punching, countersinking, thread cutting and milling of standard contours. The powerful drilling units, each with 34.5 kW drive power, are suitable for use with HSS drilling tools and carbide drilling tools. Can be combined with the saw-drill unit.

The Kaltenbach KDP 1036 is a drilling and milling machine for profile processing with additional 500 mm movable drilling axes (this significantly reduces processing times), for steel profiles from min. 50 x 5 mm to max. 1030 x 600 mm, with 2 horizontal drilling units and one vertical drilling unit and 3 automatic tool changers with 12 tool holders each, suitable for drilling, contour marking, center punching, countersinking, thread cutting and milling of standard contours. The powerful drilling units, each with 34.5 kW drive power, are suitable for use with carbide drilling tools. This drilling system can be combined with the saw drilling system.

The KDP 1336 is a high-performance CNC drilling and milling machine for the automated machining of large steel sections; it is particularly well-suited for demanding applications in steel construction, plant engineering, and the steel trade, combining high machining quality with efficient production.
It enables a wide range of machining operations, such as drilling, milling standard contours, countersinking, contour marking, center punching, and thread cutting. Three independently operating machining axes ensure fast and precise machining of steel profiles ranging from a minimum of 50 x 5 mm to a maximum of 1,330 x 600 mm. A special feature of this machine is the additional 500 mm traverse axis, which offers expanded machining capabilities and provides additional flexibility, particularly for complex milling and drilling operations. The KDP 1336 is equipped with two horizontal drilling and milling units and one vertical drilling and milling unit, each with 34.5 kW of drive power, making it ideally suited for the use of carbide tools.

With the automatic 12-station tool changers on each drilling axis, numerous tools are immediately available for various machining steps. The robust machine design and the high-performance clamping system ensure low-vibration and precise machining—even with large and heavy steel profiles. The KDP is typically combined with a KBS band saw.
