The FDM members meet on the topic "Opportunities and risks of online trade for the international used machine market"
The used machinery dealers from the FDM trade association of the machine and tool wholesale met on June, 25th 2018 in Cologne for an exciting and timely exchange on different aspects of the online trade in the used machine market, spare parts sales and tool trade. Nenok GmbH, a leading supplier of used machinery and tools specialized in steel construction, steel trading and metal construction, hosted this event for the first time.
The FDM trade association supports its members in the fields of used machinery and tool trade with regard to a wide variety of requirements and issues arising from the volatile development of the international market.
In particular, the progressive digitization of trading structures represents a real challenge for most used machine dealers. On the one hand, the demands on the customer side in terms of services and reliability are always higher; on the other hand, speed and low costs are often the only criteria in the purchase decision. A contradiction that proves noticeably dynamic, especially in online trading. This means that the machine vendor needs to provide a more complete service, and for some traders this is possible only with the help of a dedicated network, such as the FDM one.
Through intensive discussions and good presentations, it was possible to come up with interesting suggestions for dealing with e-commerce in the future. The visibility of companies and their products on the World Wide Web has become the top priority in international sales of machinery and tools.
Some used machine dealers used the opportunity during the breaks to exchange experiences about the economic development in certain international country regions.
In any case, this event has proven once again how important it is for the industry-internal exchange to take place in such fast-paced times as the current ones.
