Description of Ficep Excalibur 1201DE

Ficep 1201 DE Excalibur drilling machine for profile steel and flat steel processing.

The Ficep Excalibur 1201 DE is an economical steel construction drilling machine with a drilling axis that moves on a stable support frame. This space-saving machine has a CNC-controlled high-performance drilling unit that moves in the longitudinal direction (X-axis) along the workpiece to be drilled (profile steel, square tube, angle steel or flat steel).

How the Ficep 1201 DE Excalibur works

As a machine user, I would like to process a specific steel profile or flat steel with different drill holes, center holes or cut-outs. For the first application of the drilling system, the machine operator positions the suitable profiles one after the other on the machine frame or workpiece support frame. The necessary processing data (CAD data) for a steel profile to be processed is available as a DXF or DSTV file or as a drawing printout. Now he either enters the available data manually into the CNC control or loads the available data into the Mitrol CNC control via the interface. The next step is to load the appropriate tool position in the tool changer of the drilling unit with the tools displayed on the Montitor. All the information entered is then checked before the drilling machine is started. After the cycle start (machine start), the machine moves to the required starting position and records the exact position of the first component (profile carrier). The selected tool is automatically loaded into the drilling spindle and the drilling process begins. All holes (or grit sizes, milling) that can be machined with the tool are now machined on the first component. Then, if necessary, the automatic tool change for the use of another tool with a different diameter takes place. The automatic sequence starts again until all holes on the first component have been machined. Once the first component on a machining area has been completed (all drill holes, grits, tapped holes and milled holes), the drilling unit automatically moves on to the next component and the process starts again. As soon as the drilling unit has left the first components, the machine operator can turn over or remove the finished machined components for the next machining operation. During a machining process, the machine automatically works through all positions independently.

Excalibur drilling unit

The mobile drilling unit contains all the components required for machining, such as hydraulics, electronics, CNC control, axis drives, measuring systems, motors, drilling spindle, tool clamping, safety devices, etc. The travel in the X-axis on the support frame is from 0 - 15,000 mm.
The drilling unit is equipped with a 19 kW spindle drive. Due to the high drive power in combination with a stepless drilling spindle speed of 180 - 3000 rpm, the use of modern cutting tools such as carbide drills is a matter of course.
An automatic tool changing system with HSK A80 holder is designed for 6 tool positions.

Ficep Excalibur technical details:
